The Self Awareness Worksheet

Self awareness is truly the cornerstone of motivation. It underlies all the aspects of self motivation and emotional intelligence.

Without it the following would not be possible:

  • Anger management.
  • Growth.
  • Setting goals.
  • Using your emotions to create the results you want.
  • Emotional development.
  • Doing things differently to get different results.
  • Managing emotions.
  • Having empathy towards others.
  • Building relationships.
Self awareness is about the following:
  • Knowing one’s own emotions.
  • Understanding your thinking patterns and knowing what thinking pattern you use in certain events.
  • Understanding your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Knowing what motivates you and what you want out of life.
  • An awareness of how you impact other people…and in the context of this website, your employees.

The Self Awareness worksheet will help you to become more aware…more conscious of these things.

How To Use The Self Awareness Worksheet

There are two ways to use this worksheet. I recommend both.
  1. Take some time off to reflect on these questions. Make sure there are no distractions. Switch of the phone and make sure that nothing will disturb you.

Personally I prefer to do it in the morning. Get up half an hour earlier to spend some time on your self awareness questions.

Don’t rush through the questions. Take four or five per day. Don’t answer them all at once. If you only get through one a day, it’s also fine. Remember self awareness is a habit. We have certain default thinking patterns and if thinking what we are thinking about is not a habit, we need to practice to make it a daily habit.

Wright down your answers in a journal. Think of significant situations that relate to each question. Reflect on them before you answer.

  2. Ask other people for input on these questions. Your employees, life partner, your boss, even your kids.

This can be quite valuable, because it will help you to become aware of any blind spots.
